Hello Everyone!
If you know Rita, you know that she has always been very generous with her time and efforts to help out her friends and family. Now it's on us to return the favor. To put it frankly, Rita needs your help. Her liver transplant has given her an extension on life, but not without a price.
The first few months are going to be the most challenging. She will be taking about a dozen different medications which will mean about fifty to sixty pills a day! These medications include immunosuppressive drugs. She will take these so that her body will not reject her liver. Unfortunately, these drugs are only partially covered by her insurance. We won't know exactly how much she'll have to pay, however the Financial Analyst at the hospital told us to be prepared to pay around $2,000 for a 30 day supply of meds.
In addition to the medication there will be smaller costs that will add up quickly. Aunt Gloria will be taking Rita to California Pacific Medical Center at least two times a week in the beginning. Rita will be doing blood tests, lab work, and attend a support group. They will not be able to receive validated parking. To park six hours costs $30. If you factor in the price of gas these days, you can see that that just getting to her appointments will chip away at Rita's funds.
It's not easy or pleasant to ask for monetary donations. However, Rita need us now more than ever. Please consider instead of sending get well flowers or gifts, donating a day's worth of parking or a few gallons of gas.
Thank you so very much for reading and for your caring thoughts. It is with your support that Rita is going to make it through these first few months.
